Basement Windows

Windows are able to make your basement more visually pleasing and offer added safety. Large basement windows, sometimes called "egress windows," from Pella of Kalamazoo are created to let more light into underground spaces than the older, smaller, rectangular windows that are added above ground. They also provide an escape in case of an emergency.

The biggest difference between basement, or egress, windows and standard windows is that basement windows have to be made for an average-sized person to get out in order to meet safety requirements set up in building codes. You are able to select from appropriately sized casement, sliding or double-hung windows when you install basement windows. Make sure you fully understand local building codes prior to purchasing basement windows.
