Frequently Asked Questions

What impact will it have on our power bill by switching to energy efficient windows?

Since 1992, with help from ENERGY STAR®, American businesses and families saved $297 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 2.1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2013. All Pella® products meet or exceed ENERGY STAR certification in all 50 states and most of Canada. What does this mean for you? Not only could you see a decrease in your heating and cooling costs, you will help protect the environment.

How much will my replacement door or replacement windows project cost?

Our windows and doors are all specifically designed and made-to-order for your home, meaning no two projects are identical. Our broad spectrum of products make it nearly impossible to discuss pricing without first bearing in mind your needs, wants and the project results you envision. Due to this nature, we find it helpful to send out a Pella sales representative who can give you a quoted project price upon seeing the project site itself. To expedite the quoting procedure, your Pella® sales representative is equipped with a computer and a portable printer so that they can give you all the quote information you’ll need—once the sales representative has had a chance to consider the requirements of the job and matches them with your vision.

In addition to offering a broad range of high-quality products to select from, we also have a generous offering of payment and finance options. Pella is uniquely-suited to offer you excellent window and door products at affordable prices, giving you a chance to make the upgrades you want to while building great value into your Kalamazoo area home all the while.

What should I use to clean my glass windows?

We advise that you should use a prepackaged vinegar-based cleaning mixture or use an ammonia free glass cleaner such as Windex or Sparkle. You can also mix your own with one part vinegar to ten parts water. Apply the mix to a soft, clean microfiber cloth or paper towel. We do not suggest using glass cleaners that are ammonia- or alcohol-based as they could leave streaks or create a film that magnetizes moisture and dust.

Do Pella® employees actually install your replacement windows and doors?

Pella uses reliable installers who are certified to install Pella windows and doors. They are required to complete a rigid set of training courses so that your windows and doors are properly installed and meet Pella’s strict warranty standards. We find the best Kalamazoo-local people and recruit them to install our projects. Prior to beginning our relationship, Pella requires them to pass a drug test and background check. Our installers are fully covered by liability and workers compensation insurance. Aside from Pella product warranties, your installation is also covered for 10 years under the installation limited warranty and service agreement.

What's different about buying replacement windows and doors from local Pella® showrooms versus buying from retailers like Lowe’s?

Your local Pella branch provides services and support that “big box” stores can’t provide. Our staff is made up of professionals whose expertise is in selling, installing, and servicing Pella Windows & Doors. Working with a dedicated Pella sales team, project manager, local service technicians, and quality installers means that your renovation will have the expertise of our whole team. We commonly use the term “single source accountability”, meaning that there’s no one to chase down regarding a product, installation, or warranty issue. You can easily contact your sales representative or our main office if you have any concerns and we will get to work resolving the issue.

Why is Pella® the right choice for my home?

There are several important reasons why Kalamazoo homeowners select Pella for their replacement window and door needs. Founded in 1925, Pella is privately-held. Our success depends upon customer satisfaction, not stock prices. Every one of our high quality windows and doors are produced with high standards and serviced by Pella’s professional Direct Sales Network. Unlike most other window and door companies who sell exclusively through third-party channels, Pella has dedicated replacement window and doors stores across the United States and Canada. This unique way of operating our business gives our customers in Kalamazoo a warm, personal experience with the backing of a local to Kalamazoo, Pella-certified team. Whether you are looking for the beauty of wood, the strength of fiberglass, or the low maintenance of vinyl—Pella has a high quality, energy efficient and durable solution.

How long does a typical window consultation appointment take?

At Pella Windows & Doors of Kalamazoo, we know that buying replacement windows and doors is an important commitment. What should I expect during the in-home consultation?

Pella Kalamazoo’s in-home consultation is a very important step to ensure client satisfaction and the right window or door products are selected for your Kalamazoo home and budget. As such, it is imperative that this visit is organized when all decision-makers (typically both homeowners) are able to join. Our mission is to provide you the best replacement windows and doors possible.

You should budget up to two hours for this visit. Among the many topics we will review with you would be:

· What materials (vinyl, wood or fiberglass) are ideal for your Kalamazoo home?

· In terms of functionality, which features would you like for your new windows or doors?

· What level of energy efficiency is best for your home?

· Which colors do you want?

· Other questions you may have

Accurately quoting your replacement windows or front entry door project(s) depends upon the information we receive during the in-home consultation.
